Course Overview
The Level 5 Extended Diploma in Information Technology is designed to provide learners with a broad base of knowledge and skills, preparing them for a variety of roles in the rapidly evolving field of information technology. The Level 5 Extended Diploma in Information Technology provides a career pathway for learners who wish to develop a broad base of knowledge and skills, preparing them for a variety of roles in the IT industry, particularly in .NET programming, system administration, and network security. The qualification also covers entrepreneurship within a technological environment.
This flexible qualification offers elective choices in networking, web design, or e-commerce, with the latter being particularly in demand in today’s business landscape.
The technical skills and knowledge gained through the successful completion of this qualification are internationally recognized and highly valued. The Level 5 Diploma is accredited and has a total equivalence of 120 credits.
Learners must complete all four core units and any two elective units at Level 4.

Learners taking this qualification cannot choose the combination of electives that lead to a specialise qualifications in Networking, Web design or E Commerce. Therefore, the following combinations are not allowed – H/617/6696 and K/617/6697, M/617/6698 and T/617/6699, D/617/6700 and H/617/6701as the 2 electives.
Learners must complete all four core units and any two elective units at Level 5.

Upon completion of the Level 5 Extended Diploma in Information Technology, students will have the opportunity to apply for admission to the final year of an Information Technology program at a range of UK universities. Alternatively, students can choose to pursue the Level 7 Diploma in IT and subsequently complete a Master’s degree in Information Technology at various UK universities.
The qualification is designed to be accessible without unnecessary barriers that may restrict access or progression. Entry to the programme will be through a centre interview, and learners will typically be expected to meet the following criteria:
1. Qualifications at Level 5, and/or
2. Work experience in the business sector, with clear career goals and ambition.
In certain circumstances, learners with substantial experience but no formal qualifications may be considered. This will be subject to an interview and the ability to demonstrate the capacity to manage the demands of the programme.
Information Technology and IT Ethics
This module introduces the fundamental concepts of information technology, including hardware, software, and networking. It also explores ethical considerations in the use of technology.
Mathematics and Statistics for IT
This module provides a solid foundation in mathematics and statistics, essential for understanding and applying IT concepts.
PC Maintenance and Operating Systems
Learners will focus on the maintenance and troubleshooting of personal computers, as well as the installation and configuration of operating systems.
Computer Graphics Editing and Database Concepts
This module covers the use of graphics editing software and database management systems, including data modeling, database design, and SQL.
Logical IT Networking
This module explores the theoretical concepts of networking, including network protocols, topologies, and addressing.
Physical IT Networking
Learners will focus on the practical aspects of networking, including network hardware, cable installation, and network configuration.
Web Programming
This module covers the development of web applications using programming languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Graphical User Interface (GUI)
Learners will focus on the design and development of user interfaces for software applications.
Programming Concepts and Java for Android Programming
This module introduces programming concepts and the Java programming language, with a focus on Android app development.
Technopreneurship
This module explores the entrepreneurial aspects of IT, including business planning, marketing, and finance.
Network Security
Learners will focus on the security of computer networks, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption techniques.
C#.NET Programming
This module covers C# programming language and the .NET framework, enabling the development of various applications.
System Administration
This module focuses on the administration of computer systems, including server administration, user management, and system security.
Network Routing and Switching
This module covers advanced networking concepts, including routing protocols and network switching technologies.
Network Design and Administration
Learners will focus on the design and implementation of complex network infrastructures.
Content Management Systems
This module covers the use of content management systems (CMS) for website development and management.
Web Design
Learners will focus on the design and development of user-friendly and visually appealing websites.
Business to Business (B2B) E-commerce
This module explores the strategies and technologies used in B2B e-commerce.
Business to Consumer (B2C) E-commerce
This module focuses on the strategies and technologies used in B2C e-commerce, including online marketing, payment processing, and customer relationship management.
The Qualifi Level 6 Business and Administrative Management Course consists of 12 modules and 12 written assignments. Upon completion of the modules, students will be granted access to the corresponding assignments. Each assignment is approximately 5,000-8,000 words in length.
Students will receive support for both the modules and assignments through the ‘Tutor’ section of the learning platform, ensuring guidance and assistance throughout the course.
Upon completion of the QUALIFI Level 5 Extended Diploma in IT-related qualifications, learners will have the opportunity to progress to:
1. QUALIFI Level 6 Diploma in a related area.
2. Thefinal year of a Higher Education (HE) qualification/degree in a related area (subject to acceptance by the awarding institution).
3. Employment in a related profession.
